Pre-flight questions

Frequently asked questions

Are you CASA licensed and insured?

Yes. Bass Drone Services operates under Civil Aviation Safety Authority rules and every flight is covered by public liability insurance. Documentation is available with your quote on request.

What areas do you cover?

The whole of Tasmania. We are based in Spreyton, just outside Devonport, and fly jobs statewide: the North West coast, Launceston and the Tamar, Hobart, the Midlands and everywhere in between. Tell us where the job is when you enquire and we will factor travel into the one fixed quote.

How quickly can you turn a job around?

Most jobs are flown within a week of booking, weather permitting. Photos and video are typically delivered within 48 hours of the flight, and processed maps and reports within two to five business days. Emergency work is prioritised and is often flown the same day.

What formats do I get my results in?

Standard deliverables are high resolution JPEG photos, MP4 video, GeoTIFF maps and PDF reports, supplied through a secure download link. If your agronomist, engineer or software needs a specific format, tell us and we will match it.

How does pricing work?

Every job gets a fixed quote before we fly, based on the size of the area, the deliverables you need and travel time. No hourly surprises. Send the form above or call, and you will have a number within one business day.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

We watch the forecast and confirm with you the evening before. If wind or rain would compromise safety or data quality, we reschedule to the next suitable window at no cost to you.

Who owns the footage and data you capture?

You do. Deliverables are yours to use however you like. We keep an archived copy so we can reissue files or reprocess data later, and we never publish client imagery without permission.

Can you fly anywhere?

Most locations are straightforward. Some jobs sit in controlled airspace around airports such as Devonport, Launceston or Hobart, or have other restrictions, and those need extra approvals. We handle that as part of flight planning, it just needs a little more notice.
